Joy dances and loves.
Love hopes. Hope jumps and chases.
Death just waits outside.
I was younger then,
more alive, burning wonder
as if there were more.
Photos are moments
lived fast, without reflection.
No poem pictures.
What did you want once?
Why don't you want it today?
What broke inside you?
In an empty room
the smallest noise out of place
portends great mystery.
In a crowded room,
one can sleep. Disturbances
need more solitude.
Day dreams and visions
I had as a child, return.
Weak now, and fragile.
The memory of friends,
who slip from your life, lingers.
Like a word unsaid.
The stalks reach upward
to touch the sun. We reach out
to touch the flower.
Wind blows cold and dark.
We shelter around the flame
of each other's smile.
We are dreams destined
to end, like raindrops falling
must touch the dry earth.
